To mark 20 years of COVER magazine being at the centre of the rug industry, our Autumn issue will be a special COLLECTORS' EDITION. The covetable printed issue of COVER 80 will be accompanied by a FREE digital edition, available on the websites of media...
As you may already know Domotex Hannover will have an exciting new layout and structure for January 2018. Framing Trends in Hall 9 will focus on the latest design trends and creative product presentations based on Domotex’s new keynote theme Unique Youniverse and as part of this rug brand Creative Matters will be holding a series of Art Day Workshops in collaboration with Domotex and COVER magazine. For the Art Day sessions, guests to the show will be offered to dive into the very unique process of developing fresh rug designs.

For more than 25 years, Creative Matters has been working with interior designers and architects to create exceptional floor and wall coverings for residential and commercial locations around the world. The Toronto-based company hosts regular Art Day activities for the staff to keep the creative process fresh and dynamic. Company founder Carol Sebert explains: ‘In an industry where we can get too accustomed to using a computer to create artworks, it was refreshing to return to our roots and pick up a paintbrush. We allow ourselves absolute freedom to create new artworks as motifs for new carpet designs.’

COVER is happy to be involved with the Art Day sessions, which offer participants insight into the complexities of rug design and promote original design, the focus of our latest issue, COVER 49, which will be given out at the show in January. COVER is currently working alongside Creative Matters, The Rug Show and Label STEP on another Art Days project, the latest instalment of which can be read about here.

The Art Day workshops of Creative Matters at Domotex, in Hall 9, Stand 5, will offer visitors the opportunity to create a design of their own under the keynote theme Unique Youniverse. Up to eight participants per workshop will have an hour to experiment with pastel, charcoal, ink and wax resist on paper. The sessions will be held on Friday to Sunday at 10:30-11:30, 13:30-14:30 and 15:30-16:30 and on Monday at 10:30-11.30. There are limited places available so to be in with the chance of designing your own rug, contact Ms Alina Okolot here or on +49 511 8932158.
