Delicate garden designs and pastel shades conjure up visions of Spring. Here we present four rugs that express the fresh beauty of a garden coming into bloom and four that offer fresh, warm and Spring-like palettes for our room settings.
White gardens
These four rugs debuted at Maison et Objet and Paris Deco Off in January. For Deco Off, Édition 1.6.9. showed the beautiful new hand-knotted collection Jardins, featuring materials such as wool, silk, linen, jute and hemp and a lot of varied textures. Nearby, Galerie Diurne was also looking to nature with its new hand-knotted wool-and-silk Jardins Moghols collection inspired by Mughal miniatures. At M&O, Zollanvari showed another edition to the pretty hand-knotted Garden of Eden collection, this time with a white background and Mohebban showed the Lilium design in hand-knotted bamboo silk and wool, designed by Marta Giardini.
Spring pastels
Creative Touch‘s hand-knotted rug design and Chhatwal & Jonsson‘s pretty flatweave both below to a new trend for warm neutrals. Currently, beiges and greiges are turning warm and peachy. The rosy glows of millennial pink are turning into Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Peach Fuzz, ‘a velvety gentle peach tone’. Pale browns, creams, pinks and peaches are bringing warmth into our homes for 2024. Bokara‘s soft pastel design is from the Canterbury Collection, which combines silk and wool and has a distressed low-cut look. The collection was on show at the Las Vegas Market in January. Stronger in colour, Nodus‘s new hand-knotted rug Dancalia by Ethiopia-born designer Abreham Brioschi will be showing during Milan Design Week in April, look out for details of the location coming soon.
