For Milan Design Week this year, the exhibition Menu 1 will be a must-see event for your schedule and COVER will be present at the show, located at Convento Sant’Angelo, Piazza Sant’Angelo, near the Brera district.
Keeping in mind the Fuorisalone theme for 2024 of ‘Materia Natura’, Menu 1 will bring innovation, craftsmanship and sustainability in design to the fore. Conceived and curated by renowned London-based designer Bodo Sperlein, the space will include his new collaborations with Barcelona-based fabric and wallpaper firm Coordonné, German outdoor furniture brand Weishäupl, and lighting companies LZF Lamps and Lobmeyr. In addition, those brands will be showcasing their own new products for 2024.
Rugs will be another big focus for the installation, with Sperlein’s Botanica collection for Spanish brand Gan Rugs, plus a display by Swiss-based Iranian rug brand Edelgrund. Company owner Maryam Ebrahimi will be presenting a striking series of Iranian flatweaves to pull in the MDW crowds.
In addition, Candian rug brand Creative Matters and LOMA Studio will show installation Redoux Passager that the firms displayed during Paris Design Week in September 2023.(see COVER 73). With multiple elements including numerous rugs, the display is intended as an immersive experience for visitors to understand Creative Matters’ commitment to water stewardship in rug production.
COVER will be present at the event, giving out free copies of issue 74. The Menu show dates are 15-21 April and on Thursday 18 April, COVER will be hosting an invitation-only drinks party 7-11 pm. To get on the guest list please email events@hali.com.
