Six rugs for the season, florals versus neutrals

As warmer weather approaches, perhaps our taste in rug design changes too. Here we look at six rugs for Spring, including three dramatic florals and three calming neutrals. It is beautiful design versus sumptuous texture. Which kind of person are you?

Floris Cherry – Illulian

From the Illulian Design Collection, the hand-knotted Floris Cherry is a cubist-inspired floral. With a botanical theme expressed in a contemporary way, the rug is a statement piece that can create a dynamic shape on the floor.

Emperor Peony – Jennifer Manners x Sanderson

Derived from a Sanderson archive design of the 1920s, Emperor Peony is an elegant yet contemporary design featuring dramatic florals against an all-loop pile background. This example, Manners has created in her /re/ PURPOSE PERFORMANCE material made of hardwearing recycled water bottles. The new Icon collection, a collaboration between Manners and Sanderson, is debuting at the current London Design Week at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour.

New for 2024 is the latest Jean Paul Gaultier collection for Lelièvre Paris which includes fabrics and a new hand-tufted rug design. Marine Rose features JPG’s classic stripe underneath a pink rose graphic, all made in 100% New Zealand wool.
