Amini is reviving its charity auction in support of ‘Emergency’ in Afghanistan
Amini is re-launching ‘Made in Afghanistan’, a charity auction presented in partnership with Catawiki. First held in 2021, the auction revival will take place online from 24 November– 10 December, and will seek to support the work of Emergency in Afghani hospitals. There will also be a live auction of three exceptional rugs at the Amini Showroom (Via Borgogna 7, Milano) on 30 November.

Ferid Amini, CEO of the company, explains why the cause is so important to him: ‘The situation in Afghanistan, a country where we have our roots and where our history begins, has always been particularly close to our heart. With this project we want to contribute improving the lives of these populations’.

‘Made in Afghanistan’ will feature a significant collection of the traditional woven art from the country. The forty-four carpets on offer, from the Taimany, Bamiyan, Ozbeck Berber, Ghazni Naive and Kelim Kaudani collections, are creative expressions of Afghani craftsmanship, and hours spent weaving, and in meticulously choosing motifs and colours. ‘We have chosen 44 carpets, the same number of the years of the wars that have taken place in Afghanistan to bring even more attention to this tragedy’, continues Ferid Amini.

Basir Amini, who oversees Amini Carpets’ projects in Afghanistan, adds: ‘We have always been alongside our weavers and in the last 25 years we have implemented many projects to revive and strengthen the productive fabric in Afghanistan with the aim of having rugs of great relevance without losing the link with traditions. Specifically, in the Taimany project I have the opportunity to see how all our best expectations have been exceeded in terms of quality and creativity and how the weavers have faced the opportunity to weave new colours and designs with optimism and curiosity’.

Join the online auction from 24 November– 10 December here. Read about Amini and their recent 60th anniversary in COVER 72.
