Heimtextil at Frankfurt am Main has long been an important global event for interior textiles. Held in seven large halls at Messe Frankfurt, the show has categories ranging from furniture fabrics and fibre and yarns to textile technology.
For 2024, Heimtextil will be extending its textile reach by launching a new product segment: Carpets & Rugs, in Hall 5.1. This hall will be a focused home for all fitted, hand-woven, custom-made or machine-woven carpets, mats, runners and rugs. Thus far, signed-up companies come from Egypt, Bangladesh, China, Greece, India, Italy and Turkey. These include Indian manufacturers such as Rugs Inc, Mittal International, The Rug Republic, Sarla Handicrafts and new exhibitor Harkom Setabganj from Bangladesh. In addition, buyers for contract rugs and carpeting will be able to find contract carpet exhibitors in Hall 4.0.
Heimtexil’s Trends display is always a richly inspiring area to visit during the show. This year the theme focuses on the term ‘New Sensitivity’, a drive for greater consideration for the environmental impact of new products. This concept can be seen demonstrated in plant-based, bioengineered and technological textiles, examples of which will make up the Trend display for 2024.
One example of plant-based textiles comes from Tanja Kirst, who created her Planted project out of hemp, citrus, seaweed and pineapple yarn. For technological textiles, the work of Dutch fashion designer Pauline van Dongen and Danish design studio Sheworks Atelier will be highlighted. Visit the Trends display and be inspired!
