Decorex preview

September 18, 2023

Decorex will take place in early October. COVER provides a preview of the upcoming edition

Decorex is always a great event for high-quality rug design, and the October 2023 edition will continue this trend. Matthew Wailes has designed three large rugs for the Decorex Champagne Bar: Sequoia and Roots of Life, hand-knotted in Nepal, and the hand-tufted Sciamano. All three combine recycled and natural yarns and originate from Ilaria Perra’s Emotional Monoprint artworks.

Knots Rugs will be launching a wonderful addition to the new Artist Collaboration collection with paper marbler Nat Maks, who will also be designing all of Decorex’s marketing material this year. The painterly designs will clearly make a wonderful edition to Knots’ other expressive artist designed pieces.

For this year’s show, Tania Johnson Design is bringing out some new colours and designs for the Glass collection, to mark its ten-year anniversary. The Frosted Leaf design is now available in an olive cream colourway (pictured).

Holmes Bespoke will have a number of new designs on its stand including the recently launched Candy Collection and Louis Runners. The Candy rugs come in delicious colours (or flavours) such as Rhubarb & Custard, Bubble Gum and Candy Cane (pictured).

Further rug brands for 2023 include Wendy Morrison Design, Tai Ping, Ornate Rugs Ltd, Roger Oates and Lilla Rugs. Celebrating craftsmanship, Decorex’s new Making Spaces Artisans display will include textile artist Claire Coles, fabric artist Natasha Hulse and Justyna Medon, who specialises in custom handprinted wall hangings, textiles and artefacts.
