All COVER Talks will take place in the Carpet Design Awards area, Hall 3, Domotex Hannover.
First in the series of COVER Talks at Domotex Hannover will be COVER Editor Lucy Upward speaking on the subject of ‘Rethinking the Rug: New Methods for the Rug Industry’ on Friday 10 January at 11.00am. COVER Talks on Saturday 11 January will see two panel discussions. The first, moderated by COVER Editor Lucy Upward, is on the topic of ‘Rethinking the Rug: Voices from The Industry’ at 11.00am. HALI Editor Ben Evans of HALI magazine will be hosting the second COVER Talk panel discussion at 3.00pm, looking at ‘The Persian Carpet: Continuing Traditions’.

In her talk on Friday, COVER Editor Lucy Upward looks at new thinking in rug designing and retailing. For this panel discussion on Saturday, she talks to leading figures in the industry—including Haynes Robinson, newly appointed Senior Vice President of Design and Development at ABC Carpet & Home, Jürgen Dahlmanns of Berlin-based brand Rug Star, Carol Sebert, President of Toronto firm Creative Matters, Maurizio Battilossi of Turin-based brand Battilossi and Design Academy Eindhoven graduate Alexander Marinus—to hear their perspectives on the contemporary rug market and where they see important developments taking place. The latest proven and exploratory methods of marketing and selling rugs and innovative new approaches to design and production will come under the spotlight in a discussion sure to inspire.

The Persian Carpet: Continuing Traditions, Saturday 11 January, 3.00pm
The traditions that are associated with the Persian carpet might at first sight appear to be at odds with ever changing international interior design trends and colour forecasts but the ability of the Persian handmade rug industry to change and adapt is an integral part of the tradition’s resilience. The last two decades have presented the Persian rug industry with greater challenges than ever and a panel discussion lead by HALI editor Ben Evans joined by leading international players will discuss the state of play in Iran today, what the future holds and the Persian rug can remain to be both an integral part of Iran’s national cultural heritage and a byword for quality and luxury throughout the world.
