Rubelli’s 2015 fabric collection ‘Substance and Extravagance’ revolves around two seemingly incompatible concepts. The title, however, expresses the company’s firm basis in Italian craftsmanship as well as a penchant for innovative flourishes. The focus for the year ahead is colour, interpreted through the lens of different artistic movements. As always, Rubelli’s vast historic archive is the source of many of the designs. Rich velvets in jewel tones contrast with the sheer and otherworldly Voile de Venise, named after the company’s home town. The look and feel of Venice are a recurring theme throughout the collection.
