‘Woven Consciousness’ investigates textiles as an element within our lives at the Eretz Israel Museum, Tel Aviv to 15 June 2014. It’s protective, decorative and everyday qualities, alongside its narrative visual traditions. The exhibition presents contemporary textile art, made by designers, artists and creators in Israel, from a creative scene that is flourishing, despite the collapse of the country’s textile industry.
The show is one of many recent international exhibitions to present contemporary textiles in an art gallery setting. The medium is seemingly undergoing a renaissance of recognition for the infinite creative opportunity that it offers. Playing a central role in expressive artistic and technological developments and maintaining a place, firmly woven into our collective consciousness.
