On Sunday 12 January 2014, the winners of the 9th Carpet Design Awards were announced in a ceremony at DOMOTEX Hannover, hosted by COVER and HALI. A panel of five judges decided upon eleven winners to receive an award for their excellent design work, with an additional award for the carpet most favoured by the public – presented to Jurgen Dahlmanns, designer at Rug Star for his rug Tree of Life.

The presentation of the internationally acclaimed Carpet Design Awards took place for the ninth time at the world fair for carpets and floor coverings in Hanover. The CDAs are dedicated to handmade carpets of remarkable quality and design and this year’s Awards focussed in particular on young talent.
A total of 329 entries from designers from across the world entered the competition with thirty-three carpets reaching the final round. All these entries were on show at a special display area during DOMOTEX.

Best Traditional Design & Most Liked by Domotex Visitors: Tree of Life, Rug Star
Best Transitional Design: Garden Antracid, Global Overseas
Best Modern Collection: Manhattan, Wool & Silk
Best Traditional Collection: Haiîk, Jan Kath Design
Best Innovation: Cross me (k)not, cc-tapis
