The colourful and whacky PE stripe meltdown chair by British designer Tom Price demonstrates his use of unconventional materials and methods – Price invented a heated metal chair-shaped tool to press into a stack of colourful woven plastic rugs on a solid stainless steel frame. The design was presented by Industry Gallery at Design Miami 2011 as a prototype for his melted chair series as Price intends to create multiple works with the heated chair tool.
