Discover the rug and textile highlights at Habitare, the main design event taking place during Helsinki Design Week 2026
Helsinki Design Week returns from 28 August to 6 September 2026, filling the Finnish capital with exhibitions, workshops, markets and installations. This year’s programme also introduces the HDW Lab, a space bringing residents and decision-makers together to explore the future of Helsinki’s city centre.
At the heart of the week is Habitare, the Nordic region’s leading furniture, design and interiors event, taking place at Messukeskus from 2–6 September.
Among more than 500 participating companies and organisations are rug and textile brands Finarte, Linie Design and Woodnotes.
Finarte is a Finnish family-run business and a leading name in Finnish rug design. Since 1985, the company has created rugs that balance heritage with creativity, tradition with modernity and innovative design with sustainable materials.
Woodnotes will present its latest paper-yarn collections, Esplanadi and Bulevardi, at Habitare, alongside a new Rust colourway for its In/Out rug. Find the Finnish design brand at stand 6h50.
Established in 1980, Linie Design is a Danish design house rooted in Scandinavian design traditions. Now one of Europe’s largest developers of handmade rugs, its collections are sold in more than 70 countries and at its Copenhagen flagship store.
Each rug is made by skilled weavers in India using carefully selected materials, with the brand exploring new possibilities through experimental techniques, forms and textures.
Together, Helsinki Design Week and Habitare offer an expansive view of contemporary Nordic design, connecting new ideas, established brands and emerging designers across the city.
