Drawing inspiration from the timeless beauty of the French Riviera, La Manufacture Cogolin’s latest collection, captures the atmosphere and landscapes of the Mediterranean through a series of richly textured, artisanal rugs

Comprising seven distinctive rugs, Paysages by La Manufacture Cogolin combines two motifs reimagined from the brand’s archives alongside five entirely new designs.

Riviera-Inspired Craftsmanship and Contemporary Texture

Inspired by the timeless beauty of the French Riviera, the collection moves between understated natural textures and bolder abstract compositions, with colours drawn from the Mediterranean coastline.

Paysages showcases a variety of traditional techniques, including hand-woven Jacquard, flat hand weaving and hand-knotting, demonstrating the breadth of expertise within the atelier.

Two designs are created using hand-woven Jacquard in 70cm strips assembled by hand in France, while three models are produced through flat hand weaving. A further two designs are hand-knotted in 100% wool in Nepal.

Each rug is made to order and can be customised in both size and colour.

Sarah Henry on Paysages collection

Speaking on the launch, Henry, Managing Director of La Manufacture Cogolin & Tai Ping EMEA, explained that the collection was designed to embrace a softer, more textural aesthetic:

“La Manufacture Cogolin is particularly known for its pattern designs, but with the Paysages collection we wanted to offer a selection that is more abstract and textural, without the ‘distraction’ of an obvious pattern,” she said. “The story of Paysages is a relaxed, beachy Mediterranean vibe and the collection proposes a variety of techniques — hand-knotted, flat-woven and Jacquard-woven — all realised by hand in natural materials including wool, linen, cotton and raffia.”

She added: “The colours come from the Mediterranean coastal area where the atelier is based: the warm beige of the sandy beaches, the deep blues of the sea and the burnt orange of the sea and sky at sunset.”
