The Art of Carpets: Azerbaijan & Albania exhibition in Tirana, Albania

Opening night of the exhibition 18 November 2025 L R Artist Rufat Isayil artist Aidan Salakhova Tirana Gallery owner Edit Pula chairman of the board of Azerkhalcha Emin Mammadov and artist Xhevahir Kolgini

Opened on 18 November, ‘May your hands remain well: The art of carpets: Azerbaijan & Albania’ is a display of art rugs and carpet heritage made in the two countries, showing at the Tirana Art Gallery in Tirana, Albania. The exhibition organised by the gallery in collaboration with Azerkhalcha unveils the dialogue between two cultures and two weaving art traditions and combines the ancient heritage of rugs with the contemporary practices of Azerbaijani and Albanian artists.

The title is a tribute to the skill and to the hands that create the rugs. The woven works of Faig Ahmed, Aidan Salakhova, Rufat Ismayil, Samira Allahverdiyeva, Rashad Alakbarov and Xhevahir Kolgini are put into dialogue with historical rugs from the Azerkhalcha OJSC collection. Samira Allahverdiyeva’s artworks include some of her Fruits of the Garden collection rugs, that featured in COVER 80. Aidan’s Salakhova’s stunning Woman triptych is also on show.

The exhibition curators are Tirana Art Gallery owner Edit Pula and chairman of the board of Azerkhalcha Emin Mammadov. In this collaboration between the gallery and Azerkhalcha, both parties affirm their mission to build cross-cultural bridges and bring artistic legacies into a new context of dialogue and creativity.

The exhibition is on until 20 January 2026.
