We select five rugs featuring autumnal tones

Ishkar x Skateistan

As the season of autumn sets in, a number of new rug collections demonstrate how autumnal colours are really winning favour. For 2025 colours really heated up, with warm tones of red, orange and brown becoming important for interiors. Neutrals have fallen in favour of tones of brown, honey and pinks instead of cooler greys and pale blues. This notion is reflected in five new rug designs that have been released for September/October.

Ishkar’s new Afghan Rug collection in collaboration with NGO Skateistan has a really 70s vibe, combining orange, red and brown. Handwoven in Afghanistan, the 4-rug collection includes Azadi, which is hand-knotted in Ghazni wool. In addition, 30% of proceeds from the collection will be donated to Skateistan, helping provide safe spaces, skateboarding programs and education for children in at-risk communities.

Marea, Armadillo x Carla Cascales Alimbau

Also, hand-knotted, Marea is a rug from the new Gaia collection by artist Carla Cascales Alimbau for Armadillo. The Marea design is available in four warm neutral tones, including clay, which is shown here.

Avanzo, Art + Loom

Similarly hued is the new Avanzo rug by Art + Loom. This rug will be one of a number of designs that will be shown as part of Art + Loom’s debut at Dubai Design Week.

Ulla, Amadi x Cortney Bishop

Interior designer Cortney Bishop’s collection for Amadi Carpets debuted at High Point Market, which finished yesterday. The 14-piece collection explores the tension between structure and fluidity and is inspired by vintage Swedish textiles, using a palette of earthy greens, warm peach, rich browns, and golden hues.

Imprint Green, Volver Studios

The hand-tufted Echoes collection by Kristine Five Melvæ for Volver Studios is inspired by the layers of life and the memories we carry. The collection consists of three sculptural designs, each available in three colourways. This version of Imprint features deep greens and browns alongside a brighter blue.
