COVER provides the lowdown on the woven highlights to be found at Decorex, taking place at Olympia, London from 12–15 October

Merlo, Riviere Rugs

The 48th edition of Decorex is set to showcase an exciting mixture of woven highlights from both new and returning luxury rug brands. Among the highlights at the Knots Rugs stand will be the Sara Bopp and Beñat Olaberria collections alongside new additions to the Stefan Heyer series, all abstract, painterly designs that epitomise the brand’s signature fusion of fine art and craftsmanship. On 14 October, the brand will host a collage workshop throughout the day.

édition 1.6.9 will be returning to the show with a number of new collections, including ‘KOMMOS’, alongside the ‘Tellus Mater’ rugs. Created in collaboration with Sandra Benhamou, this collection was created using a variety of natural fibres, hand-crafted into patchy patterns that are evocative of topographical landscapes.

Holmes Bespoke will showcase its new Into the Wild collection during the show, a texturally complex homage to the raw beauty of Africa’s wildlife. The brand will also launch its In Bloom collection of three bespoke floral wall hangings.

Making a welcome return is Ishkar, showcasing a vibrant selection of kilims and rugs handwoven by master artisans in northern Afghanistan, each piece steeped in cultural heritage. One of the brand’s new rugs, Kapisa, blends age-old craftsmanship with modern design, featuring abstract shapes in soft, earthy hues that reflect the serene beauty of Afghanistan’s natural landscapes.

Also returning to the show is Riviere with a variety of new pieces, including the geometric Leblon Melograno, alongside Rothko Nebbiolo and Rothko Barbera, characterised by their deep lustrous hues.

Roger Oates will present a couple of new collections at the upcoming Decorex. One of these is ‘Linear’, a hand-tufted collection which studies the construction of textiles through repeated motifs and stripes. The other is the ‘Venetian Collection’, which recalls the company’s first collection of colourful flatweave from 35 years ago, inspired by Venetian Murano glass.
