The exhibition is running until 22 August
The rugs included in the Weaving Poems exhibition—a collection of twenty-four handwoven rugs by Afghan designer Maryam Omar and the women weavers of Bamiyan—have now almost all sold. Presented at Sotheby’s London (28 July–22 August 2025), the show was accompanied by a panel discussion entitled ‘Magic Carpets: Art, Design and the Elevation of the Afghan Rug’ on 6 August, featuring Matt Bourne, Ali McMurter, Maryam Al Ghithani, Guy Oliver, Ben Evans, and moderator Toby Ash. A second panel, ‘Regenerating Historic Buildings & Spaces in Community Partnership’, will take place on 13 August, focusing on the restoration of a 17th-century caravanserai into a community weaving centre in Bamiyan.
