To celebrate 25 years of premium rug artistry, fine artist and founder of the eponymous London brand, Deirdre Dyson is revealing four new designs, hot on the heels of her 2025 collection Light Play. The four designs—Carnival, Pool of Light, Slivers and Sunlit—are all popular rugs from the Deirdre Dyson archive. To mark the anniversary, Deirdre selected the four favourites and transformed them using different colour palettes.

For this celebratory capsule collection, Carnival, Slivers and Sunlit have integrated elements of silk into the original wool designs while Pool of Light is made of 100% wool, allowing for a more matt finish. Of two of these designs, Deirdre comments: ‘Slivers and Pool of Light both have simple organic shapes at the centre, and I played with colour in the overlapping areas to make them interesting, sticking to a simpler colour palette for Slivers to give it a new edge.’

The original Sunlit design was created in a neutral grey-green hue while the new version is a much more striking blue. When describing the changes, Deirdre says, ‘I like bringing fluidity and movement into my designs and have always been inspired by the beauty of water. I alternated coloured wools and silks, in cerulean and sapphire blues for the special version of Sunlit.’  

The field colour of Carnival’s original version was also a grey-green colour with red and orange ribbons moving across the composition. The new version features deep blue shades, to alter the design. ‘Ribbons are a favourite design motif, and I was excited to reinvent Carnival—one of my most popular designs—to create a moodier version,’ explains Deirdre.  

The capsule collection will join the main 2025 collection Light Play on display in Deirdre’s London gallery from September.  The stunningLight Play’ designs focus on the interplay of light through colour, geometry and form and can be currently seen at Deirdre’s gallery on the King’s Road, London and Deirdre’s Parisian gallery on Rue des Saints-Pères. They will also soon be on the company’s newly launched website – www.deirdredyson.com, which showcases Deirdre’s extensive archive of hundreds of timeless carpet designs to celebrate two and a half decades at the forefront of contemporary carpet making. 

Every Deirdre Dyson carpet is ‘made to measure’, using Tibetan wool and high-grade pure silk, available in the full colour spectrum. Goodweave-certified, Deirdre Dyson carpets are handwoven by Nepalese craftspeople and can be designed and woven for private residential or commercial spaces.
