Presenting 11 fabulous new rugs for summer from COVER’s latest issue

Thoughts of summer conjure up concepts such as warm colours, fun designs and exciting new ideas. In the summer issue, we look at the trend for Optimism in design, or what some call ‘Dopamine Decor’. This idea that colour can bring about mood change is nothing new but perhaps in these trying times we need some more colour in our lives! Designs by Tamarian, Warp & Weft and El Espartano‘s collaboration with artist Marta Minujín all bring an explosion of colour into a room.

Championing elegance in design are Christopher Farr‘s collaboration with The Future Perfect, the Bruno Munari designs by Amini and the new rug collection by designer Danny Kaplan. All three collections highlight the fact that simple patterns can speak volumes and elevate a room.

Creativity and artistic endeavour go hand in hand with rug design, and the new releases by Mexico’s Balmaceda and Sweden’s LAYERED with Heather Chontos are all about those elements. Chontos’ designs were created from collages while those by José Maria Balmaceda are taken from his multi-media sketches.

Innovation drives design forward, and in COVER 79, we report from numerous projects that take rugs to a new level.  We look at the MLRugs Artificial Intelligence project, comprising AI-designed rugs made in Morocco, we report on Daniel Costa‘s designs for The Mill USA, who work with weavers in Namibia plus the new collection by Beni Rugs that reinvents the ancient R’bati carpet.
