COVER visited London Design Week at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour when it opened yesterday. Here we outline five rug collections that caught our eye at the show, which closes on 14 March.
1
Kujaku, Wendy Morrison

Featuring a hand-knotted rug and runner, alongside a selection of cushions, the defining motif of Wendy Morrison’s new Kujaku Collection is a peacock, symbol of love and kindness. Also launching this week at the designer’s showroom is ‘Moondance Nature’, a handtufted rug featuring a bright full moon.
2
Light Play, Deirdre Dyson

Commemorating its 25-year anniversary, Deirdre Dyson has a temporary showroom at London Design Week this year. Taking pride of place is a selection of pieces from the new Light Play Collection, celebrating colour in its purest form.
3
Monochrome Stories, Topfloor by Esti

The new collection by Esti features two completely customisable rugs and a runner. Created in collaboration Japanese artist Hashimoto Naotsugu, the collection is inspired by his work using the dry point printing technique.
4
Scandi, Jennifer Manners

Merging traditional craftsmanship with Scandinavian design, the new collection by Jennifer Manners is comprised of five varied flatweaves and hand-knotted rugs that experiment with colour and texture.
5
Melograno, Riviere Rugs

Riviere has released a selection of its most beloved designs, including old bestsellers and new designs in the ‘Melograno’ colourway. Italian for ‘Pomegranate’, the company is responding to an increased demand for rugs in red hues, a colour associated with timeless elegance.
