A warmer palette
Colour palettes for interiors are warming up in 2025, with the focus for beige and grey turning more to warm browns, honey tones, pinks and reds. In Paris it was invigorating to see bold colours throughout the events and to feel the colour temperature rise. In her Paris showroom, Deirdre Dyson showed her new Light Play collection, full of pinks and lilacs. Two heart-warming cc-tapis rugs, in collaboration with Faye Toogood and Univers Uchronia were on show. Vandra Rugs opted for two pink rugs on the wall of their display while Naturtex’s mood board at Maison&Objet demonstarted all the relevant hues.

Focus on texture
Since the trend for quiet luxury came along some years ago, textures have got softer, longer, more opulent and more sophisticated. The best rug brands know that their dedication to texture and materials is what elevates their product. At M&O Gan opted for some soft and quiet luxurious rugs, while Mohebban used texture to create a natural aesthetic. Fuli Carpets had some rugs with innovative materials, while Studio Lid offered some great Moroccan designs with a great handle. Known for their texture expertise, the three Déco Off exhibitors Battilossi, Vandra and Jakub Staron did not disappoint.

Gold and yellow
Back in January 2022, I wrote a trend piece about how gold was my colour of the year, based on it being a glowing, optimistic colour. As I checked over my images from Paris 2025, I noticed that so many of the designs were gold and yellow. While gold is big in fashion for 2025, I have not seen much written about the gold in interiors, it will no doubt follow. But looking at my Paris selection, I think this sunny shade is already here. Toulemonde Bochart’s gold design lit up the brand’s showroom while there were endless other sightings.

Playful design
It’s best not to take everything too seriously, not when there is much to be serious about. Delightful fun was brought to Paris by many brands, who wanted to catch the attention of the crowds, from Andrey Budko’s HEAR MY ROOOAR wool felt rugs to Mir Mola’s stunning rug with the words ‘Kiss me’ woven into the central part of the design. Maison Dada’s rug was part of Elizabeth Leriche’s fantastic Surreality display and Lyk Carpet’s rug, wall posters and foot stalls combine beautiful, colourful design with playful techniques and flourishes.
