After an impressive start in Hall 5.0 in January 2024, the Carpets & Rugs section of Heimtextil for 2025 is shaping up well as a multi-hall sector with additional events. Well aware of how its commercial successes work in the fabric market in aiming for a wide-reaching public, Heimtextil is looking to appeal to a similar buyer with a selection of rugs from handmade to machine-made offerings.
Domotex has been postponed until 2026; the Carpet & Flooring Expo in Istanbul has been moved to January; and imm Cologne will not be happening this year So it is clear that there is a real shift in design events for early 2025. It is inevitable that there are multiple knock-on effects, some of which are yet to be understood.
Looking at Heimtextil’s Carpets & Rugs segment for next January, Hall 5.0 will focus on handwoven carpets with brands such as Jaipur Rugs, The Rug Republic and Bhadohi Carpets, while Hall 5.1 will be home to a growing range of machine-made carpets from brands such as Oriental Weavers, Ragolle and ABC Italia. Nearby, Hall 3.1 will house a handful of rug brands including Theo Keller and Paulig, while 3.0 will offer the Heimtexil Trends zone, textile brands and rugs from companies such as Rupesh Kumar & Sons and Global Overseas, plus a large area for the Indian brands under the Carpet Export Promotion Council. Other rug brands spotted around the event include creative brand Manglam Arts in Hall 6.1.
In the centre of Halls 5 and 6 will be the Carpet Lounge, which COVER’s editor Lucy Upward is this year curating alongside event organisers. The Lounge display will centre on nine of the colours from the Heimtextil Trends 25/26 forecast, taking rugs from a range of the exhibitors to show a variety of production qualities, materials and designs.
On the first three days of the show, alongside COVER’s collaborative display, Hall 3.0 the Texpertise Stage will host a series of talks and discussion panels given and chaired by Lucy Upward. The four talks will look at design and buying trends, responsible practices and AI’s role within rug design.
The Heimtextil Trends display is always a great highlight of the event, with many interesting new products and brands in rugs and textiles. This year design platform Alcova from Milan will curate the Trend Arena in Hall 3.0. Guided by the motto ‘Future Continuous’, Alcova places textiles in a new light, combining past trends with forward-looking influences.
In addition, renowned designer and architect Patricia Urquiola is assembling an immersive ‘among us’ installation for the 2025 show. Focused on ready-made textiles, as well as hospitality and design, the aim of the project is to provide buyers and exhibitors with a unified design experience centred on human connection.
Sustainability has long been a focus for Heimtextil, and next year ‘Econogy’ hubs throughout the show will focus on the meeting of economy and ecology.
