January is an extremely busy month for design events. Here we preview the shows taking place in the first month of 2025.
The Carpet & Flooring Expo (CFE) returns to the Istanbul Expo Center in January 2025, following on from its first edition in December 2023. The last show dedicated much space to the machine-made sector from Gaziantep and Iran, while there was a section dedicated to handmade, which included some popular brands including Kirkit, Jaipur Rugs and Bereket. For 2025, the list of brands is not yet online; but confirmed handmade companies include Global Overseas, Gokkusagi AH, Jaipur Rugs and Kirkit.
After an impressive start in Hall 5.0 in January 2024, the Carpets & Rugs section of Heimtextil for 2025 is shaping up well as a multi-hall sector with additional events. Well aware of how its commercial successes work in the fabric market in aiming for a wide-reaching public, Heimtextil is looking to appeal to a similar buyer with a selection of rugs from handmade to machine made offerings. The show will take place from 14–17 January in Messe Frankfurt.
The theme for the upcoming edition of Maison&Objet, the leading interior design trade fair in Paris, is ‘Sur/Reality’, addressing increasing consumer demand for ‘the strange and the surprising’. Inspired by this, Faye Toogood will present ‘WOMANIFESTO!’, an installation in a surrealist setting based on her work in fashion and design. ‘Sur/Reality’ will also be touched on by some exhibitors, such as Budko Rugs with its new collection of innovative interpretations of the classic animal-skin rug design. Other exhibitors include Kirkit, Ferreira de Sá and Ornate Rugs. Beyond show doors, Maison&Objet In The City will run concurrently, offering a circuit of 100 design spots in Paris. M&O takes place from 16–20 January in Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre.
Highlighting the latest collections of luxury textiles, wallpapers and rugs from prestigious global brands and designers, Déco Off invites visitors on an odyssey throughout Paris from 15–18 January. With over 100 showrooms spread across the city, primarily in neighbourhoods like Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Rue du Mail, visitors can explore exclusive launches in intimate, curated settings. Participating rug brands include Kvadrat, Édition 1.6.9 and Toulemonde Bochart.
Following the success of the COVER Connect Las Vegas pavilion at The International Surface Event (TISE) in 2023 and 2024, the third edition will be held at Mandalay Bay Convention Center from 28–30 January. Curated by COVER magazine, the boutique event brings together a select group of dynamic brands to showcase some of the highest-quality rugs on the market today—the perfect accompaniment to the other types of carpet and flooring offered at TISE.
Spread over four buildings, the next Las Vegas Market sees more than 3,500 gift, home decor and furnishings lines showcased in permanent showrooms along with over 550 temporary exhibitors. As always, rugs are an all-important offering. This year, the dates coincide with The International Surface Event (TISE) held in the same city, offering buyers optimum rug exposure in Vegas this January.
