The COVER art room pick their favourite rugs from the last four issues

Following on from part 1 of this series, we look at the favourite rug picks from the members of our art room, Kanittha Mairaing and Radostina Dobreva. Read part 3 here.

The Calendar, A* alittlemore studio

Head of design Kanittha Mairaing’s choice is this rug from Lahore-based design studio A* alittlemore, founded last year by Aleeya Khan. It is part of the Smog Rug Collection which is previewed in the Collections feature of COVER 75. Kanittha explains that she likes ‘how the studio translates the Punjabi landscape into a beautiful abstract design’. For her it works well because it is simultaneously ‘colourful, subtle and interesting’.

Illuminated Molecular Clouds, 2024, Leonor Serrano Rivas

Graphic designer Radostina Dobreva’s pick is this stunning Jacquard tapestry by artist Leonor Serrano Rivas. This featured in COVER 75, in an article in which Serrano Rivas spoke to assistant editor Rachel Meek about how she is pushing the jacquard weaving technique to its limits and beyond. Radostina explained her reasons for this choice, saying that she loved ‘the rich, moody palette as well as the detailed textured and layered effects that the artist executes so skilfully’. She’s also a fan of ‘the abstract shapes and soft blending of colours’.
