It is probably hard for some of us outside of the US to understand the scale of a country with 50 states and that trends can differ from place to place depending on many factors, as with the differences in tastes between European countries. That being said, recently there has been a general movement in US interior design towards concepts such as ‘understated luxury’ (I’m thinking, a wool and silk hand-knotted rug with a slightly worn finish), ‘natural materials’ (a flatweave in jute, sisal or seagrass) and texture (that one is easy). The only problem I see is the increased desire for ‘statement ceilings’ that seems to be reflected in all the recent international designer showcases. It is a shame to steal the limelight from the floor.
Nourison
From the best-selling Prismatic collection, the PRS08 design by Nourison is hand-tufted with hand carved details, made from wool and Luxcelle yarns. Attention-grabbing shades are offset by charcoal and white and impart an element of excitement.
Pampas Leather
The Brava rug by Pampas Leather is made by the best artisans from the best cowhides. Lead designer, Geraldine Alberdi created this design, inspired by the waves hitting the seashore on the Argentinian coast.
Rug & Kilim
For Rug & Kilim, the best-seller unsurprisingly is the firm’s classic flatweave. Cyrus Nazmiyal adds, ‘it continues to be our ace and hallmark with the other qualities supporting it, keeping the category alive, fresh and inspiring’.
Feizy
A more recent best-seller for Feizy, Gia is a premium tier hand-knotted rug collection woven from a mix of Ghazni and New Zealand wool and viscose with textured cut and loop piles. It is loved by fans of texture.
French Accents
The mid-century modern aesthetic never goes out of favour. French Accents’ collection of the same name is ‘quickly becoming a favourite among our existing customers and is attracting new ones’ says firm CFO Danny Shafiian.
