An event that traditionally represents a wide range of high-quality rug brands, Decorex is set to return to Olympia London on 6-9 October this year. The fair that is a firm favourite with interior designers promises to feature a wide array of woven highlights from both new and returning luxury rug brands.
Amy Kent will be launching a new design from the brand’s collaboration with Rapture and Wright. The bordered rug draws elements from the fabric company’s popular Moorish and Albaicin designs.
New designs will be presented by Knots Rugs, who will be debuting the Alicia Collection alongside the company’s recent addition to the artist collaboration series designed with Rediscovered By. Hand-knotted in Nepal, the Floral Collection is comprised of five delicate yet vibrant designs, each of which possesses its own unique energy. Sweetpeas Original, Wild Meadow and the monochromatic Sweetpeas White on White feature Krone’s characteristic press and print method using leaves and flowers. These seem to grow from the bottom of the rug, intertwining throughout and creating a dynamic yet simultaneously calming overall impression.
To mark the ten-year anniversary of the brand’s popular Places collection, returning brand Tania Johnson Design will be revealing three new series additions at Decorex. The hand-knotted wool and silk Places collection is based on Johnson’s memories of the places she has visited as captured through her photography.
Making its Decorex debut, Ishkar’s stand is sure to attract a crowd. The brand, which has a retail store in London, collaborates with master weavers in northern Afghanistan to produce a variety of vibrant kilims and rugs, which will be a welcome discovery for visitors at the show. The brand’s recent collaboration with Louis Barthélemy featured in COVER 75.
Further rug brands for Decorex 2024 include Floor Story, Jaipur Rugs, Lilla Rugs, Holmes Bespoke, Vandra Rugs and Roger Oates.
In its second year, Making Spaces will allow invited artisans to demonstrate the making of their products to Decorex visitors. Makers will include passementerie artist Elizabeth Ashdown and weaver Pamela Print. Look out for the Design Talks, live mural painting by Maria Christina Design, the entrance feature by The New Craftmaker and the Material Bank Café.
