London Design Festival begins this week

The 22nd edition of London Design Festival 2024 returns, more spectacular than ever, from the 14th to the 22nd of September, with a diverse range of skilful designers. Promoted as the ‘design capital of the world’, a variety of renowned creators will attend the festival to showcase some of their greatest works. Here we focus on five of the most exciting exhibitors to keep an eye out for throughout the week.

Material Matters

Poltrona Frau will be showcasing ‘Squash’, Faye Toogood‘s esteemed collection, a remarkable fusion of her experimentative style with Poltrona Frau’s timeless leathercraft. Comprising armchairs, rugs and mirrors, the display is an inviting exhibition that can be experienced from the street as well as inside.

Also a creative collaboration, Christopher Farr and Fondation Arp will exhibit two highly anticipated rugs reimagined from the artworks of the Swiss artist and designer Sophie Taeuber-Arp. The hand-knotted ‘Etude Ligne 1941’, and the hand-tufted ‘Aubette Study’ are pieces that were intricately made and developed with compelling artistry.

Floor Story

In the Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour, Focus/24 is presenting the autumn and winter collections of 600 incredible brands and over 130 unique immersive showrooms, that are certain to spark creativity and inspiration. Jaipur rugs, Jacaranda Carpets & Rugs, Sacco Carpet and Stark Carpet are among the names whose works will be exhibited in Chelsea. For anyone with an admiration for design, it is an experience not to be missed.

The 10 x 10 exhibition will showcase 10 new editions of Floor Story’s most captivating art, fashion and design collaborations. Having previously given the public various glimpses of their designs, the London Design Festival will be the first time ever that these artworks are all shown together.

Faye Toogood

Finally, Material Matters’ fascinating talks and workshops featuring the voices of leading experts are unmissable, as they will delve into valuable conversations about individuality, expression, and human relationships with materials. The exhibitions at London Design Festival each show stimulating individuality and character, which are certain to captivate the attendees and convey their visions to them.
