The highly anticipated FITE bienniale textile returned to Clermont-Ferrand on 2 July 2024, and will be showing until 12 January 2025. This year’s main event is taking place at the spectacular Bargoin museum, and revolves around the concept of PLAY. A nod to the Paris 2024 Olympics, the theme explores the values of collaboration, pleasure, challenge and hope, encouraging artists to experiment beyond their usual realm of creativity.
This year spotlights the playful side of art, with references to the care-free and childlike enjoyment of creating simply for the pleasure it induces. PLAY explores the dichotomy between light-hearted fun, and the more ruthless aspects of playing, which when combined generates artwork that is unpredictable.
The event features eighteen exhibitions, heritage collections of designers, the works of fifty artists and is an exciting opportunity to land at the heart of colour and creativity. Joana Schneider is among the incredible artists that will be showcasing her work. Using organic materials and adopting embroidery, passementerie and tapestry techniques, Joana’s memorable pieces such as Saturday Night Fever Dream and Ballet Date Look will be on show. These remarkable projects are not to miss, as they truly encapsulate the essence, joy and freedom of FITE2024.
