Planned to take place at the time of year many buyers traditionally look to source rugs in New York, the second edition of the boutique trade fair is held at The Metropolitan Pavilion, a larger venue in an equally convenient central location. This Istanbul based company is widely respected for producing some of the most innovative handmade designs to come out of Turkey today. Kirkit Rugs’ owner, Ahmet Diler, is deeply involved in environmental issues and fair-trade business practices and in 2021, he opened a pilot workshop in Ushak, the first of its type in Turkey, where the weavers are paid three times more than the average Turkish weaver and are provided with retirement funds and access to health care.
