Samad’s adaptation of a classic design is a finalist in HPMKT People’s Choice Awards

‘Something old and something new’ is a line in a wedding rhyme related to the bride’s apparel. But the ritual of old and new has relevance during our global pandemic. Humans naturally gravitate towards the familiar and comfortable (the ‘old’) during unsettled times, but we still crave the new and unexpected. Instead of separating old and new shouldn’t we double our pleasure by combining them? Leading B2B rug company Samad believes so. Their new handmade Meridian Rug Collection is a stunning example of how old plus new can equal exceptional design.

Glory Meridian Rug Collection by Samad

The Meridian Rug Collection is simultaneously traditional yet timelessly modern. Expertly hand-knotted in India with the highest quality wool, the Meridian Rug Collection blends traditional styling and artisan craft with colour palettes that reflect the hues of contemporary homes.

A well-known international company based in New Jersey, Samad’s artisan rugs are available through their dealers or direct to the trade. Creatively merging old with new isn’t limited to their rug designs; Samad has recently adapted their thirty-five years’ experience at IRL trade shows to the new paradigm of virtual shows. ‘Starting in November 2020 we’ll bring all our new collections to our buyers virtually,’ says David Samad and his colleagues in an upbeat video posted to their Instagram account.

Glory Pinnacle Meridian Rug Collection by Samad

Bloom, Glory, and Pinnacle are the three designs that comprise the Meridian Rug Collection. The indigo colourway of Glory has been named as one of fifty-four finalists in the home décor category of International Market Centers’ Fall 2020 Market Snapshot. The event is part of High Point Market, 13-21 October 2020, where Samad will be exhibiting at Market Square Tower, Showroom 115. The rug’s dark indigo ground accentuates the rug’s pattern—an elegant yet playful stylised fantasy floral field inspired by classic Persian Oushak rugs.

Dorothy Belshaw, International Market Centers’ Chief Customer and Marketing Officer, describes how IMC’s Market Snapshot finalists provide buyers and designers with ‘a sneak peek at some of the latest and greatest products that our High Point exhibitors will offer.’ Market Snapshot winners are determined by public vote. Voting is open until 9 October. Cast your ballot online or vote on Instagram @DesignOnHPMkt. Winners will be announced on the opening day of High Point Market.

Samad acknowledges HPMKT remains ‘an ideal venue to meet with existing and prospective clients’, but they are proactive in providing new access points for clients. Samad’s new Look Books enable their clients to personalise a downloadable PDF of a collection with their own logo and contact details—a thoughtful and pragmatic example of the attention to detail Samad continues to provide IRL and virtually.
