The Luxury Brands curated rug exhibition returns to DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR in Shanghai for 2019. COVER is thrilled to announce the third edition of the event, taking place at on 26-28 March 2019.

First debuting in Domotex asia/CHINAFLOOR in March 2017, Luxury Brands brings some of the most sought-after international high-end interior design brands to Shanghai. Organised by COVER and DACF, the luxury hand-knotted rug display has proved to be a major success with visitors and exhibitors over the last two years. Highlighting the relevance of luxury handmade rugs within the international flooring market, Luxury Brands offers an exclusive opportunity for DACF visitors to view these important global brands. The exhibition has become an important platform for the forging of international relationships within design.

In 2019, Luxury Brands returns with nine companies, several of which showed last year plus a selection of new faces. The nine Luxury Brand exhibitors at Domotex asia are: Creative Matters, Rug Star by Jürgen DahlmannsZollanvari, BattilossiShahdad by AshkiyounFiresun by Dena Lawrence, New Moon, Oritop and Sahar. The latter five brands are making their Domotex asia debut. COVER spoke to them to find out what they will bring to Luxury brands and what they expect from the show.

Shahdad by Ashkiyoun

With a focus on superior quality, the Iran and German based firm Shahdad by Ashkiyoun, is the latest brand by the Ashkiyoun Group, who have 140 years of carpet production experience. Shahdad’s designs combine innovation with the ancient art of Persian weaving.

Firesun by Dena Lawrence

Australian rug firm, Firesun by Dena Lawrence is all about creativity. Company owner Dena Lawrence is an acclaimed artist and art psychotherapist, who converts her dynamic, semi-abstract paintings into beautiful artworks for the floor.

As part of the Luxury Brands show for 2019, during DACF there will be a series of talks by exhibitors and COVER magazine, on the subject of rugs and their importance for interiors and future rug trends.

Carol Siebert, President of Creative Matters Inc. will talk about personalising rug production in her presentation Customization of Carpets for Luxury Interiors’—an increasingly important focus for rugs today. Owner of Italian rug company Battilossi, Maurizio Battilossi will deliver a talk on ‘Italian Design in Contemporary Carpet Culture’. New Moon’s Chief Operating Officer Erika Kurtz will discuss the need for rugs in luxury interiors in a talk entitled, ‘Art Underfoot: The importance of Hand-crafted Rugs in Luxury Design’. COVER Editor Lucy Upward will provide information on rug trends for 2019 and beyond in her talk ‘Design for the Future: Rug Trends 2019’.

The excellent mix of companies and accompanying talks is sure to make Luxury Brands 2019 another success for COVER and Domotex asia/CHINAFLOOR. For anyone interested in the global rug industry it is a must-attend show.
