For the 50th edition of COVER, we asked influential people in the world of handmade carpets to without prejudice name the best rug since the first issue 13 years ago. CEO and founder of the Society of British International Design, Vanessa Brady OBE, chose At The End Of The Day by Knots Rugs.
‘This rug I recently saw at Knots Rugs’ showroom is absolutely art in wool and silk. It is a painting, a floor covering, it is modern, contemporary, and yet also would fit with antique quite beautifully. It could easily be a wall hanging, it was just so intricate. Its colours and texture were breathtaking and a real conversation piece among the industry professionals in the room. I thought it was everything a rug should be; it draws your attention but also acts as an anchor for furniture. A rug creates zones and sets definition to space which is what designers do too!’
