This September New York is the place to be for viewing the latest rug collections by the best brands around. The New York International Carpet Show is on at The Tunnel on 12th Avenue on 11-13 September and will be hosting a number of unmissable features.
Some of the best high-end international brands will be showing at The Tunnel in September including Amadi, Ariana, Jan Kath, Orley Shabahang, Jaipur Living and Amy Helfand with more to come. Another exhibitor of note is Nouveau Afghan a debuting brand set up by new US rug company Wafa Dar, who are working in Afghanistan.
This year the show will also feature a new Antique Pavilion, comprising a selection of high-end antique rug dealers from across the globe. Mollaian, James Cohen, Alberto Levi and CaravanSerai are just some of the names that have signed up to be part of show. NYICS will be the perfect place to pick the perfect rug, be it contemporary or antique, there will be a great deal of choice on offer.
On Monday 12 September NYICS will host a talk by US designer Jonathan Adler. Before opening 30 stores around the world and designing everything from lighting to furniture to sunglasses, Jonathan Adler was first a pottery-obsessed artisan with an improbable dream to do what he loves. This September, Jonathan will share his journey as a craftsperson from a production potter to a purveyor of everything you need to add Modern American Glamour to your home. Hear the challenges he faced, his learnings, and his lessons for other makers.
Murtaza Ahmadi, president of New York International Carpet Show comments “Jonathan Adler is an inspiring example of what can happen when we truly value impeccable handcrafted process. We need to tell more of these stories to protect the sustainability of handmade goods in an economy that rewards massification. This year, NYICS will amplify the voices of people behind the craft.”
