On Monday 12 September NYICS will host a talk by US designer Jonathan Adler. Before opening 30 stores around the world and designing everything from lighting to furniture to sunglasses, Jonathan Adler was first a pottery-obsessed artisan with an improbable dream to do what he loves. This September, Jonathan will share his journey as a craftsperson from a production potter to a purveyor of everything you need to add Modern American Glamour to your home. Hear the challenges he faced, his learnings, and his lessons for other makers.

Murtaza Ahmadi, president of New York International Carpet Show comments “Jonathan Adler is an inspiring example of what can happen when we truly value impeccable handcrafted process. We need to tell more of these stories to protect the sustainability of handmade goods in an economy that rewards massification. This year, NYICS will amplify the voices of people behind the craft.”
