Circular rugs are all the rage at the moment. Here COVER picks three favourite examples of round luxury carpets.

Nodus’s display at the San Simpliciano cloisters in Milan has become a must-see event at Salone del Mobile every April. This year the Italian rug brand had a number of designs worth noting, including Thanks a Bunch (above) by Studio Job. Design duo Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel have used a banana motif in a number of previous design projects and their recently released monograph is called Monkey Business.

Joe Colombo, Amini Carpets

In his short career as an industrial designer – before his death in 1971 – Italian-born Joe Colombo designed an array of innovative products for brands such as Kartell, Alessi, Flexform and Boffi. At Milan’s Salone del Mobile 2016 in April, Amini Carpets launched the first two designs from a collection of rugs derived from Colombo’s work. Bubbles and Isola will be joined by further Joe Colombo carpets in the near future.

Simone Post, Vlisco

Creating desirable interior products out of pre-used materials is surely an admirable skill and one we should all be more switched on to. Simone Post has designed this rug using recycled Vlisco fabric ends. More on this project will follow in COVER 44.
