During the Salone del Mobile (3-13 April 2014), STEPEVI presented a limited edition series of eight carpet artworks designed by Angelo Bucarelli. The contemporary luxury rug brand has several international boutiques with innovative collections inspired by the latest fashion colors and textures.

Bucarelli designed the carpets for the installation Water. Like Tears of Love, which took place at the same time as the 13th Istanbul Biennial. The artist concluded that water is the essence of the city’s identity. He was inspired by the architecture of a 15th century abandoned hammam, using glass, iron, cotton and embroidered decorations. The carpet was chosen as the symbol of trade, a fluid medium for creativity and cultural exchange.

He has designed eight carpets that STEPEVI produced, inspired by water and derivations of Istanbul. These influences are shown in the water calligraphy shaped as a drop. There is also reference to the traditional kilim carpets. the old bazaar textiles and the hammam peshtemals. Seven of these carpets will be hand knotted from one. The remainder will be realized in ton-sur-ton linen using an innovative production technique.
