An exhibition of new wool pictures and wall sculptures by German artist Rosemarie Trockel is currently on at Sprüth Magers London, a contemporary art gallery on the city’s Grafton Street. The work of Trockel, who is possibly best known for a series of knitted blankets depicting controversial logos that she produced in the 1980s, spans a variety of genres and media. She employs numerous types of materials, one of which is wool. In these new works the wool stripes represent brushstrokes on the canvas, some pieces are colourful striped compositions, others in stark contrast are black. These are interspersed with a series of wall sculptures made of Acrystal and Plexiglas, adorned with colourful acrylic paint. The show in London ends on 5 October 2013.
