One of the UK’s most sought after fashion designers Mary Katrantzou has released her first Resort Collection, which features a stunning array of prints of fantastical land and cityscapes. The subject matter ranges from fields of flowers, mythical lakes and abstract high rise tower blocks, all with a magical element to them created by Katrantzou’s heightened use of colour and contrast. These scenes of a mythical floating world are compelling and the wearer of the clothes becomes a bearer of a visual story. Not only is the imagery used telling a tale but the cut of the fabric has its own story. Resort collections are pre-season lines of ready-to-wear clothing originally designed for wealthy customers or jet setters. This is the designer’s first Resort range, which plays with the idea of travel but not your average trip to Spain, the clothing illustrates stories into a range of other-worldly places.
