‘Lapsus’ is Fabio Novembre‘s latest carpet-chaise longue design produced in a limited edition by Gufram. Taking place at ‘Le Dictateur’ during Milan Design Week 2013, guests were invited to enter a clinical-looking room through a tiny door, reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland.

A ‘lapsus performance’ took place, with Fabio dressing up as his wife and his wife dressed as a skinny little boy in a cropped black suit. As they draped across the chaise they talked with their guests about the meaning of lapsus, whilst a motorised swinging light bulb completed the surreal scene.

‘The carpet is an interpretation of the universe: separates an inside from an outside, one on top of the other. It has dimensions (i.e. order), borders, frames and magic patterns… In Greek mythology, the fate is woven through the feminine weft and the masculine warp: we are the mortal vehicle of a virtually immortal substance… but this is not a lapsus.’ commented Fabio Novembre.
