Italian fashion designer and artist Roberto Capucci is celebrated for his innovative forms and ingenious use of colour, and materials. An exhibition – the first survey of his work in the United States – featuring over eighty Capucci creations – as well as original drawings and sketches – is on at the Philadelphia Museum of Art until 5 June 2011. The show includes work ranging from the beginning of his career to his legendary sculpture-dresses – including his seminal 1978 ‘Colonna’ silhouette, based on the Doric column.
